More details

The Amos Block Perpetual Reserve (OVP 1965) comes from exceptional dryland Sauvignon Blanc bush vines planted in 1965. This makes it the oldest Sauvignon Blanc vineyard in South Africa. The vines grow without irrigation in the harsh Swartland conditions and continue to produce fruit with rare character.

The team picks the fruit at low sugar levels between 18.5 and 20 degrees balling. They allow the juice to ferment naturally in very old French barrels. Once fermentation ends, they fortify the wine to 15% alcohol and introduce the flor yeast culture. The wine then ages under flor in a solera system. Small amounts of younger wine enter the upper tier of barrels to refresh the blend, while older wine remains below. This creates a perpetual aging cycle that builds depth and harmony over many years.

The style is bone-dry and shaped entirely by place, time and the flor layer that develops naturally in the Swartland heat. With no additives, the wine reflects the pure expression of the vineyard and the power of this historic site.
