The Amos Block Sauvignon Blanc 2023 comes from a dryland bushvine vineyard planted in 1965. As South Africa’s oldest Sauvignon Blanc block, it holds certified heritage status. The site is unirrigated and delivers only 3.0 tons per hectare. In exceptional years, the vineyard produces fruit with rare clarity and power.
The team harvested the vineyard in February 2023 at 21.1° balling with a natural acidity of 7.05 g/l. They destemmed and crushed the bunches gently, then allowed 90 hours of skin contact. After 48 hours of settling, they transferred 30% of the juice into seasoned French oak barrels. The remaining portion fermented in stainless steel. This mix adds texture while keeping the wine bright and focused.
The final wine shows both intensity and refinement. Its aromatic energy and saline minerality balance the chalky grip from the skin contact. The barrel portion adds a soft veil of texture. The style remains quietly powerful and undeniably graceful.
