This Grenache Noir comes from a vineyard planted in 1973 on the Berg-en-Dal farm in Piekenierskloof. Warm days and cool nights help the old bush vines produce small, flavourful berries. The dryland conditions also add natural intensity.
The team handpicks the grapes early in the morning. They include 20% whole bunches to lift the aromatics and add gentle grip. Fermentation starts naturally. The cellar crew uses light punch-downs and pump-overs to protect the fruit. After pressing in a basket press, the wine spends 12 months in selected barrels. This careful approach keeps the style pure and expressive.
Bloemcool Oupa se Wingerd forms part of the small-batch fairview wines range and offers a fresh, elegant take on South African Grenache.
