Tasting Notes
In the glass, it appears dark blood red with a hint of purple. The nose reveals black and white pepper, lavender, fynbos, and earthy spice with notes of clove and cardamom. The palate is fresh and textured, showing red plum, dark berry, and spice with soft tannins and lingering flavour. Bloemcool Heeltros 2022 will age beautifully for three to five years.

Bloemcool Heeltros 2022 is made from 100% whole-bunch fermented Syrah a modern style created with hands, feet, passion, and heart. The grapes come from one of Paarl’s highest Syrah blocks, where the fruit develops rich colour and flavour.
The team handpicked the grapes early in the morning. Seventy lug boxes of whole bunches went into open-top stainless-steel fermenters. Halfway through, the winemaker and intern crushed the bunches with their bare feet to release a little juice and naturally start fermentation. The next few days brought gentle manual punch-downs, helping fermentation progress and building texture.
This carbonic fermentation process created freshness, fine tannins, and bright fruit. After fermentation, the team basket-pressed the wine and aged it in one 500L and one 225L French oak barrel. It matured for twelve months before bottling, naturally stabilised and showing the unfiltered expression of Syrah from Paarl.
