Tasting Notes
Black-burgundy in the glass. The nose shows dark plums, cassis, warm spice and loose black tea leaves. The palate is deep and ripe with black fruit, a savoury hint of liquorice and fine tannins. A touch of sweetness softens the finish. Bold yet refined, with the structure to age a decade.

The Bloemcool Monster 2022 brings together Petite Sirah (70%) and Tempranillo (30%), two cultivars pioneered by Fairview for their powerful colour and tannin extract. Both varieties come from trellised vineyards in Paarl, shaped by the warm, dry climate that suits these grapes perfectly. This combination gives Monster its dense fruit, muscular structure and rich flavour.
The grapes were picked in February and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Once the team extracted enough structure, they pressed the wine and transferred it to barrel to finish fermentation. Each cultivar aged separately in barrels with toasts chosen to soften tannins and add subtle sweetness to the palate. After 20 months in oak, the team selected eight barrels for the final blend. Minimal filtration protects the wine’s intensity, and harmless sediment may form with time.
