The palate has depth with more ripe black fruit, savoury hint of liquorice on the mid palate and fine tannin with some sweetness on the finish. Bold but refined. Will age well for a decade.

The grapes were picked in February from Paarl trellised vineyards. The wines were fermented in stainless steel and pressed after satisfactory
structure was extracted. The wine was transferred to barrels to finish
off fermentation. Both these cultivars were aged in barrels with
specific toasting for the cultivar, that helps to round off the tannin
structure and contributes to some sweetness on the palate, taming
the monster. The wine spent 20 months in barrel before the final selection of 8 barrels were made for the final wine. Minimal stabilisation or filtration before bottling. Harmless sediment may occur.
