More details

Fairview Bush Vine Cinsault 2021 highlights the elegance of one of South Africa’s classic grape varieties. The 27-year-old bush vines grow on the Fairview wine farm in Paarl, rooted in deep Oakleaf soils. Planted in 1994, these dry-farmed vines produce fruit with remarkable freshness and natural balance as they move toward certified Old Vine status.

Harvesters hand-picked the grapes on 26 March 2021. Around 20% of the bunches went whole into open-top French oak foudres, while the rest were destemmed and hand-sorted. Gentle punch-downs and pump-overs twice a day helped extract colour and flavour. After fermentation, the team basket-pressed the wine and aged it for ten months in older French oak barrels. A light filtration kept the fruit expression pure.

This wine captures the charm of Paarl’s vineyards bright, expressive, and full of personality. It’s a reminder that Cinsault, when treated with care, can deliver elegance and vibrancy in every glass.
