The Fairview Bushvine Cinsault 2023 comes from 30-year-old bush vines planted in 1994 on the upper slopes of the Fairview farm. These vines grow in deep Oakleaf soils and deliver naturally balanced fruit with bright, red-fruit flavour.
The team handpicked the grapes on 28 February 2023. They placed 20% whole bunches into the tank and added the rest after hand-sorting. Fermentation took place in open-top French oak foudres with gentle punch-downs and pump-overs twice a day. After fermentation, they drained the wine and basket-pressed the skins. The wine then aged for 10 months in older French oak before a light filtration and bottling.
Bushvine Cinsault 2023 is bright and juicy with sour cherry, blueberry and soft spice. The palate stays light, fresh and flinty. It’s a vibrant, summer-friendly red and a lively expression of fairview wines and modern South African red wine from respected wine farms South Africa.
