Fairview Eenzaamheid Shiraz 2022 showcases the craftsmanship of the Fairview winery, capturing the depth and elegance of Cape winelands Shiraz. The grapes come from Paarl vineyards planted in 1996, where dry-farmed vines grow in deep Swartland shale soils. These soils retain natural moisture, allowing even ripening through the warm summer months. Careful pruning and crop control deliver balanced fruit with remarkable concentration and structure.
Harvested by hand on 7 March 2022, the grapes were destalked, hand-sorted, and fermented in open French oak foudres. Gentle punch-downs and pump-overs enhanced colour and flavour without overpowering the fruit. After basket pressing, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in 25% new French oak barrels, while the rest matured in seasoned oak. After 20 months of barrel ageing, a final selection determined the finished blend, bottled with care to preserve purity and finesse.
