Lanner Hill Syrah 2021

R630.00

Selected from the Lanner Hill Farm in Darling, owned and grown by the Fairview Wines team. These trellised Syrah vines grow in deep red shale and granite soils with the proximity of the cool Western Coast cooling down the fruit in the afternoon. Cooler, maybe more elegant expression of the variety reminiscent of an old-world style, thus Syrah, not Shiraz.

Food Pairing

Cheese, paté and charcuterie with freshly baked bread. Grilled lamb with herb sauce or spicy and earthy flavoured vegetable dishes.

Tasting Notes

Dark red with bright red rind in the glass. A very aromatic nose with herbal notes of rosemary, lavender, bright red berries and typical hints of cracked black pepper. The palate is fresh with red fruit flavors complimented with peppery spice and fine tannins. The wine is still firm and will age well.

More details

Lanner falcons gracefully soar over our parcel of land located on the hilltops outside of the quaint town of Darling. We have been privileged to farm here since the early 2000s. With a view of the Atlantic Ocean, these dryland, trellised Syrah vines grow in nutrient-rich oakleaf soils. The cool, sea breeze allows the fruit to ripen gradually and develop a distinct spicy character. Partial whole bunch fermentation has created an elegant, cool climate Syrah. To Life!
