Fairview Petite Sirah 2020 is a bold, full-bodied red packed with ripe black fruit, baking spices and firm, age-worthy tannins. Deep, dark and powerful.
Pair it with braised short rib, venison, lamb shank, rich casseroles or Fairview’s bold blue cheeses. The wine’s structure suits hearty, warming dishes.
Bold black colour with red hues. The nose shows ripe cherries, plum, dried olives and baking spice. The palate follows with generous black fruit, cinnamon, clove and robust tannins. The finish is dry, long and built for ageing.
The Fairview Petite Sirah 2020 comes from a single vineyard planted in 2004 on decomposed granite soils high on Paarl Mountain. The site enjoys warm days and strong sunlight, which the team manages with careful leaf removal and shoot work. They also drop bunches after veraison to keep the crop small and concentrated.
The grapes were handpicked and moved straight to stainless steel tanks. Early in fermentation, the cellar team pumped over the must up to three times a day to build colour and flavour. Petite Sirah carries strong tannins, so they pressed the wine before fermentation ended. This approach kept the structure firm but balanced.
The wine then spent 24 months in French and American oak, with 40% new French oak adding extra spice and depth. After ageing, the team racked, lightly filtered and bottled the wine.
The final result is bold and full-bodied. Ripe cherries, plum, dried olives and baking spices lead the nose. Black fruit and warm cinnamon carry through on the palate. Firm tannins and a long, dry finish make this a powerful expression of Fairview wines and a great choice for fans of rich South African reds.
