Youthful ruby red in the glass. Aromas of red cherries, berries and plum with hints of oak spices. The palate shows dark fruit with a full-bodied feel and well-integrated oak. Fresh, firm tannins shape the finish. Will benefit from further time in the bottle, with recommended ageing of 5 years.

The Fairview Pinotage 2023 comes from older dryland bush vines and trellised vineyards on the Fairview farm in Paarl. These vineyards grow in decomposed granite soils, which help Pinotage develop its deep colour and bold fruit notes. The first two weeks of February 2023 brought ideal harvesting conditions.
The team picked each block over several days to capture perfect ripeness. They destemmed and lightly crushed the grapes before fermenting them in stainless-steel tanks and open-top wooden foudres. After malolactic fermentation, the wine moved into French oak barrels with a small portion of older American oak. It rested for 16 months before blending and bottling.
Pinotage 2023 is bold and expressive. Red cherries, berries, plum and warm oak spice fill the nose and palate. Dark fruit carries the body, while fresh, firm tannins create a confident finish. It stands as a dynamic expression of fairview wines and a proud example of South African red wine crafted on established wine farms South Africa.
