Ruby red in the glass, this Pinotage bursts with aromas of ripe cherries, berries, and plum, lifted by subtle oak spice. The palate is rich and generous, filled with dark fruit and supported by firm yet silky tannins. It’s expressive now but will reward patience, growing even more complex with a few years in the cellar.

Fairview Pinotage 2023 shows why this grape thrives in Paarl. Older bush vines and trellised vineyards grow in decomposed granite soils, giving depth and structure. Harvest took place in early February 2023, with each block picked at peak ripeness. After destalking and gentle crushing, the fruit fermented in stainless steel tanks and open-top wooden foudres.
Malolactic fermentation followed, then the wine spent 16 months in oak 15% new French barrels with the rest older French and American. This mix softened the tannins while keeping the fruit bold and vibrant. The result is a Pinotage with ripe berries, spice, and a firm backbone that promises to age well.
This wine shines with food. Serve it alongside beef fillet, spicy Cape Malay curries, or a slow-cooked stew. Its bold flavours and structure make it a perfect choice for hearty dishes and special gatherings.
