Bring a little Fairview heritage to your wine collection with the Fairview Homtini 2024 Case of 6. This distinctive red blend celebrates the pioneering spirit of Charles Back's Italian ancestors and their journey to South Africa.
The name Homtini means "difficult passage" in the Khoi language. It refers to the historic Homtini Pass near Knysna, where the Rabbolini family settled after leaving Northern Italy. Their determination and hard work eventually led them into several trades, including winemaking.
The 2024 vintage combines 36% Sangiovese, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 10% Shiraz and 6% Petit Verdot. Most of the grapes come from Darling vineyards, while the Petit Verdot comes from Stellenbosch. Together, these varieties create a wine that balances freshness, richness and structure.
Homtini pairs beautifully with slow-roasted lamb, rich tomato-based pasta, mushroom risotto or a selection of aged cheeses and charcuterie.
With six bottles in one case, you can enjoy this wine at special dinners, share it with friends or keep a few bottles aside to develop further with age.
