The grapes are grown on the southern slopes of Paarl Mountain in rich granite soils. The vineyards are 18 years old, trellised with drip irrigation, producing full bodied red wine grapes. The Mediterranean-style climate of Paarl is ideal for producing fruit-forward red wines with accessibility and good mid-palate structure.

Food Pairing

Lamb, game meat, spicy rice dishes, vegan fare with BBQ flavours, biltong, and lazy afternoons.

Tasting Notes

Ruby red in the glass. Plush, upfront aromas of plum and mixed berry fruits, cherry, and a hint of subtle oak spices. Soft and juicy with a generous mouthfeel, offering more red fruit and savouriness on the palate and a velvety finish.

Will age well for 3–5 years.

More details

Grapes were harvested, destemmed, and placed into stainless steel tanks. Fermentation took about 10 days on the skins with 2–3 aerated pump-overs daily, allowing for good colour and fruit flavour extraction. The wine was then pressed and allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation in older (3rd & 4th fill) French and American oak barrels, as well as in tank. Predominantly French oak (80%) was used. The wine was matured for 10 months before blending and bottling commenced.
