Food Pairing

Perfect with grilled lamb, spiced chicken, tapas, mushroom dishes or charcuterie. Its light structure suits aromatic flavours and Mediterranean-style meals.

Tasting Notes

The wine shows a vibrant light red colour. Fresh red berry fruit leads the aromatics, joined by soft pepper, cardamom and an iron-like spice. The palate remains light yet expressive, supported by fine tannins and lively acidity. It will evolve gracefully over the next few years.

More details

The Spice Route Grenache 2019 comes from dryland bushvines planted in 2006 on Amoskuil farm in the Swartland. These vines grow without irrigation and produce small, flavour-packed berries. Even the antelope on the farm seek out the low-hanging fruit, showing how appealing the vineyard has become.

The grapes were hand-picked on 12 February 2019 and fermented in open concrete tanks with manual punch-downs. After fermentation, the wine went into old French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and sixteen months of gentle maturation. This traditional approach protects the purity of Grenache and enhances its natural elegance.

The result is a bright, expressive red with lifted berry fruit, fine spice and a feather-light structure. Its fine tannins and fresh acidity make it an easy companion for warm days, shared meals and fans exploring South African wines or the Spice Route range.
